Design, development and SEO for Pirate's Table, a pirate-themed Calabash seafood buffet with live mermaid shows in Surfside Beach, South Carolina.

The Challenge
Pirate’s Table is a Calabash-style seafood buffet in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, about ten minutes south of Myrtle Beach. It isn’t only a place to eat: there are live mermaid shows, roaming pirate characters and a themed dining room built around a buffet of more than 100 feet.
The site had to carry that experience. A family planning a night out on the Grand Strand needs to feel the theatre of the place, then find the price, the hours and the way there without hunting. It had to do both, and it had to be found by people searching for a seafood buffet near Myrtle Beach.
Our Approach
We designed the site around a single idea: step aboard. The homepage opens on an illustrated beach scene with pirates walking the shoreline, a galleon offshore and a mermaid perched on a treasure chest, with speech bubbles for the characters. Dolphins arc out of the water as Lottie animations, gold particles drift across the page, and Pirata One headings set in gold sit over deep ocean blues. On phones, a quick-info strip puts hours, the adult price and one-tap directions above the hero, so the practical answers come first.
The build is a static Astro site on Cloudflare Pages. Heavy artwork is served as WebP, and social share cards are generated at build time. Two automated checks guard the layout: a CSS check that fails the build on a cascade regression, and a visual check that compares every page at desktop and mobile widths against a recorded baseline.
Search got the same attention. We added a dedicated Myrtle Beach seafood buffet landing page whose visible FAQ and FAQPage schema come from one source, so they can never disagree. Legacy WordPress URLs that still earn impressions redirect to their new equivalents. A blog covers crab legs, dining with kids and eating near Surfside Beach.
The site is also ready for AI assistants: an explicit crawler policy in robots.txt, an llms.txt with the key facts, and a markdown version of every page served to agents that ask for it. GA4 records visits referred by ChatGPT, Perplexity and other assistants, and the edge reports crawler fetches that never run JavaScript.
The Result
Pirate’s Table is live with menu, group sales, pirate lore, reviews, careers and contact pages, an accessibility widget, and a contact form protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. It reads like a night out at the restaurant and answers the practical questions in one tap.
