Design and full-stack build of The Chroma Atelier, an at-home colour analysis brand: guided quizzes, 12 season results, a curated shop and an admin back office.

The Challenge
Seasonal colour analysis is usually done in person, with a trained analyst holding fabric drapes against your face. The Chroma Atelier sells a kit of 28 fabric swatches so you can do the same analysis at home. That only works if the website guides you through the analysis as carefully as an analyst would, and then helps you use the result. The site had to teach the method, run the diagnosis, explain the season you land on and point you to clothes and makeup that suit it.
Our Approach
We designed a calm, editorial storefront: warm off-white backgrounds, near-black type and a muted gold accent, so the swatches and season palettes provide the colour. The hero centres on a twelve-petal wheel, one petal for each season.
The core of the build is the paid kit quiz. It follows the professional elimination method. A Red Test of six warm-versus-cool pairs settles your undertone, neutral drapes break a tie, three green pairs narrow the field to three candidate seasons, and a final sister-season face-off decides the result. Answering “can’t tell” keeps both options open instead of forcing a guess, and the back button undoes your last answer. A free seven-question quiz uses weighted scoring to bring in new visitors and adds them to the mailing list with their season attached.
Each of the 12 seasons has its own results page and its own curated storefront. Product links run through a click tracker that only redirects to approved retailer domains. Behind the site sits an admin area for managing products, reordering them by drag and drop, watching affiliate clicks and editing settings without a redeploy. The stack is Astro and React on PostgreSQL, with unit tests on the quiz logic and continuous integration on every branch. We also designed a postcard and a sticker with a QR code that sends people to the quiz.
The Result
The Chroma Atelier is live at thechromaatelier.com, with both quizzes, all 12 season pages, the storefronts and the journal published. We also ran a full SEO and AI-search audit and implemented its findings across the site.
